I picked up a couple of Z50A’s at the Barber Vintage Festival back in October and I’ve been steadily working on the blue 69. 69 was a unique year in that the bike came in Honda Candytone Blue that year only. Commonly referred to as a “silver tag”, the bikes are collectible because of the color and silver VIN plate on the steering head. All of the old Z50’s are in demand by collectors, but the silver tags are sort of the Holy Grail. The 68 Z50’s which had no lights (not street legal) and painted fenders instead of chrome are also quite rare but probably not as sought after.

I’ll be updating regularly with progress. Here are a few pictures of the bike as I got it. It is amazingly complete with only the taillight bracket being kind of hacked up and tack welded on. This was not unusual because as soon as some kid (or his dad) did a wheelie and flipped the bike, it usually bent or tore the tail light off the bike! All the rest of the bike is really original and as far as I could tell, it had almost no hours on it. Even the exhaust is original and in amazing condition as are the original badges!
