Basically, what you will need to do is either buy another top triple clamp off ebay and save yours in case you ever want to return it to stock (for when you sell it) or take it off so you can have it drilled at a machine shop. Either way, you need to get it off the bike. Start by removing your upper fairing/headlight assembly. If you can’t do this without instructions, the rest of the project is really beyond your capabilities…

The ignition switch is really a pain. It is very hard to get to the plug since it is mounted behind the radiator and in front of the airbox. What I did was to use a hollow “security” #45 torx bit (available at your local auto parts store) and take the switch out with the triple clamp kind of dangling by the tank. Note- make sure you put an old towel or 2 over the tank when you are working to keep from scratching or dinging your tank. Having a helper to hold the triple clamp upside down while you take the bolts out is highly recommended. They have a lot of thread lock on them and are not easy to turn. Here is a picture of the switch hanging down after removal from the triple clamp. Note that I left on of the old clip-ons on the bike so I could move it around if needed.  Tomorrow, we look at what risers and handlebars to get and how to drill the clamp.
