Well, after Sunday’s race, things are finally looking up for GP racing in the US. For the first time in a lot of years, a major motorcycle race was broadcast live on a major network (FOX) and attendance at Laguna Seca was reported at 115,000. So both of those are pretty encouraging things but I would love to see more media coverage of the sport here in the US. Let’s face it, the media can turn anything into a huge deal if they simply give it the air time. This is especially true of something like GP racing which has an excitement level several notches above NASCAR. If they can make NASCAR into a phenomenon, they can do it with anything. So let the networks know that you want to see more of the good stuff and maybe they will start covering AMA Superbike at some of the great tracks we have here in the US. One other positive note- next year, we are going to have 2 MotoGP races. One at Laguna and the other at Indy. Just the name “Indy” give immediate credibility. Stay tuned.
