Ducati superbike.jpgSpeed is reporting that it is likely that Ducati will not have a team for next years AMA Superbike series. They cite mechanical restrictions and sponsorship as reasons for the decision. Read the whole article here-

Paolo Ciabatti, director of the Xerox Ducati Corse racing program in World Superbike and the man who oversees Ducati Superbike racing efforts in major national championships, principally the United States and Great Britain, acknowledges today at Brands Hatch that Ducati “is likely to withdraw from the AMA Superbike championship in 2007.”

This would be a really big blow to the series since Ducati has the image as the main European brand of Superbikes. Let’s hope something can be worked out.
